Texture Sculpture

Texture Unit Sculpture

  1. The variance of textures is pretty big in my piece. Even though there is a lot of Wood, it is split up by the bike tire in the middle.
  2. At the beginning, I really wanted a uniform piece.  After a couple days, I decided that I only wanted part of the piece to be uniform and the other side to be chaotic.
  3. Overall, my understanding of abstract has gotten bigger as now I appreciate the 3 dimensionality of works.
  4. Throughout my project, I was constantly changing my idea of how I want it to look.  Each component went through multiple stages.
  5. I was constantly reforming my components.  At the end I added screws to the wood because I thought the color of the screws would nicely contrast the wood.
  6. My print and sculpture are not very similar as I only used my print as a springboard for my sculpture.
  7. Instead of just trying to make what I thought looked cool, I now try to make art pieces that work together.  I think about contrast and depth as apposed to just color.
  8. Overall, my works could have benefited from a little more control.  Instead of being so random with how I placed my wood chips, I could have been more thoughtful with my placement.
  9. I was happy with how I participated in saying my views about my artwork and others.
  10. I was able to communicate my insight well.  Instead of just pointing out cool colors or shapes, I really tried to point out contrast and depth.
